Biogas

,

The Biogas project is aimed at providing alternative energy source and instilling entrepreneurship skills to the disadvantaged villagers in Alice (South Africa),who cannot afford electricity.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

More than 1000 people do not have electricity in Alice town according to a research at Fort Hare University. The problem being the unaffordability and lack of funds for the energy source.Although Eskom the power provider is working with the municipality it has failed to address the issue diligently. This has seen many people using illegal cable connections which is a danger to everyone. This project would offer alternative energy power to more than 40 inhabitants, addressing challenges in Alice.

How will this project solve this problem?

The biogas project would provide alternative source of energy to those who dont have electricity in Alice. Also, the targeted group would be trained with entreprenuership skills so as to help them sustain themselves and improve their livelihoods.

Potential Long Term Impact

The project would educate more than 40 disadvantage people who do not have a means of living, this would be done through the application of entreprenuership skill learned and start making their own Biogas stove and sell them in the market.
