WoMen'Up

,

WoMen'Up is an association that aims at building links between people and networks that usually never meet, in order to promote gender equality. WoMen'Up designs its actions towards Gen Y people (people under 30), and more specifically towards students who are close to enter the work market.

Concretely, WoMen'Up created in January 2012 a Clüb that allows selected students (both boys and girls) to beneficiate during a 6 months period from a series of exclusive actions : they have the opportunity to work hands in hands with one of our partner firms (including L'Oréal, Unilever, Spirit AeroSystems, etc.) on a subject linked to gender equality and they are offered the possibility to attend inspiring afterwork sessions with high level personalities from the business world.
In 2012, more than 40 students are part of the Clüb. They attended networking events, realized a short video about Diversity in the workplace, wrote a report on Gender Equality, participated in mentoring sessions, etc.

Apart from the actions of the Clüb, WoMen’Up also organizes different actions in order to increase the awareness on Gender Equality issues among young people.

In September 2011, members of the WoMen’Up team had the great chance to design and animate a roundtable dedicated to Gender Equality during the One Young World Summit. The roundtable featured HKH Mette-Marit of Norway, Mercedes Erra, Fatima Bhutto, Carole Stone, Jenifier Corriero and Christine Ockrent.
In December 2011, WoMen’Up organized in France the first symposium dedicated to Gender Equality and Gen Y. We named this symposium “The new ‘Ken&Barbie’ will conquer the world” and during more than 2 hours, we investigated the huge changes brought by Gen Y people in the workplace and its impacts on Gender Equality.
We also organized several conferences in schools and universities on the topic.

Overall, WoMen’Up raised awareness among more than 5 000 people over the year.

Thanks to its strong links both with Gen Y people and firms, WoMen’Up members have developed a great expertise on Gender Equality issues and have participated in different events as speakers. For instance, we participated as speaker in Elle Active, a forum dedicated to Gender Equality on March 8th 2012 or acted as a Discussion Leader in the last OECD Forum in May 2012.
