YUFE (Youth United For Education) has been set up at Macquarie University, aiming to integrate community service and social activism into the academic curriculum for credits – thereby both encouraging help of those in need, and fostering greater social inclusion between the student and local communities.

Jukti Initiative
The aim of Jukti is to make healthcare more accessible to everyone in Bangladesh and particularly people living in remote areas where access to high quality medicine is limited. Doctors from the city hospitals will be able to examine, monitor and diagnose patients remotely using video conferencing technology.

Your Big Year - Michael Teoh
The ‘Your Big Year’ social enterprise competition was hosted in Liverpool, U.K., a competition which pit 45,000 participants from around the globe with their entrepreneurial skills and talents in growing social enterprises and promoting the involvements of young people in charitable organizations. OYW Ambassador for Malaysia, helped by the OYW Network, was one of just two chosen for the prize.

GLOBAL POVERTY PROJECT 1.4 BILLION REASONS SCREENINGS
In coordination with both Prince Haakon’s Global Dignity Day, and the Premiere of the Global Poverty Project’s 1.4 Billion Reasons interactive DVD on how to eradicate extreme poverty, OYW Ambassadors around the world were provided DVDs for a day to stage screenings of the film in their communities, from Canada to Turkey to South Africa to Nepal to Trinidad & Tobago, to special events in New York and London, featuring celebrities like Hugh Jackman and Lily Cole.
