fathering in a fatherless continent.Africa has lost its fathers; children are growing up with absent or abusive fathers. AIDS, alcohol abuse, physical abuse and years of crushed pride, have lead to a generation of children who are raised with no strong influential male figures in their lives. I regularly mentor a number of young men from the township and try to share with them some of the fathering I was so fortunate to have. It is a strong driving force in my life to see the men of this nation rise up and break the cycle of the past and to adopt and father the children of this nation. My biggest objective in life is to develop a self sustainable and replicable model of orphan care and mentorship that can be effective throughout South Africa and Africa as a whole. I have studied my undergrad and now I am busy with a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship, in order to develop the skills required to effectively achieve this goal. Africa needs young leaders who are willing to not only die for the things they believe in, but also live for them.

My white father fought against apartheid and I am his son. I am passionate about unity in South Africa and hope to see people healed from the injustice and abuse of the past. In 2008, at the age of 21, I started "Sibanye Township Restaurant" with a friend of mine. He wanted to become a chef but could not read or write. We not only developed this restaurant around is inability to read (while teaching him to do so), but we also strived to see the wrongs, that lead to this problem in the first place, corrected. We both grew up in Hout bay, a village which is a microcosm of South Africa, where white, black and coloured people live very separately and we both wanted to bridge the gap so that people could work together to heal the racial divides the past. With no finances and little more than the passion to see change, we set out to make a difference.
