I am passionate about

I am passionate about the environment and its protection. There is so much that we can all do with minimal effort. My goal is to educate the people around me about these simple things and motivate the ones that are already aware to take action! I'm also really interested in trying to better our current global position on the interfaith dialogue. I believe that there are far more similarities between the religions out there than differences. Instead of focusing on the differences the world religions have, I think it would be far better to see how similar they all are, how many messages are the same across all religions. If we can understand each other better I really do believe that at least some of the wars out there wouldn't be necessary.

Actions

Founder and President of environmental group HOPE (Help Our Planet Earth) 1. Awarded "Qatar Today Green Award" (Best innovative project in the educational sector, judged by UNESCO) for my instrumental role in establishing the first harnessing of renewable energy scheme in my country; We were able to purchase 2 solar panels and a wind turbine (with sponsorship by a local company, Salam Bounian) to power computers in one of our school's IT labs. 2. Saved 10 acres of rain forest in Brazil 3. Organized numerous environmental campaigns which included 3 Earth Days; One of our campaigns was named the "Green Guitar". We had seven local schools in Qatar participate in this initiative. The students from the different schools played music at our concert and the proceeds from the ticket sales went towards purchasing the rainforest land via the World Land Trust Organization. 4. Established our school's first recycling system; we recycle plastic, aluminum, glass and paper 5. Planted 200 plants around our school; this was part of our second campaign where our main focus was on the crucial role plants played in our environment in regards to their absorption of carbon dioxide gas.
