Host a screening of award-winning film: The Price of Free

"If you see any kind of abuse and exploitation of any child anywhere, break the silence. We cannot end child labor unless we all demand it. March with me."

- Kailash Satyarthi in "The Price of Free"

About the Opportunity:

Nobel Peace Prize winner and OYW Counsellor Kailash Satyarthi, who spoke at OYW 2018 in the Hague, invites the OYW network to help raise awareness and inspire action to end child labour by hosting a screening of  the new award-winning documentary The Price of Free

Made by the team who brought us An Inconvenient Truth and He Named Me Malala, the film follows the different narratives of parents, campaigners, and the children themselves, and depicts the story of how Kailash went from being a young activist, angry at the injustice of child labour, to leading a team that has rescued over 86,000 children from forced labour and slavery in India.

Launching in November 2018 as part of the 100 Million campaign's week of global action, screenings have already taken place schools, universities, communities and Parliaments across the world: you can see a summary the week here. The film has since been made available for FREE on Youtube until March 27th and we are hoping for as many people to see this inspirational journey to change as possible.

You can watch the film for free here and register your event on our website, where you will also find lots of resources to help you host an impactful screening, including facilitation guides to explore how the issues the film highlights affect your country with your audience. This is an exciting opportunity for millions of us to raise our voices for a world where every child is protected from violence, learning in school, and not working to survive.

OYW hosts an Ambassador screening in Indonesia:

Margianta Surahman, One Young World Ambassador from Indonesia, was inspired to host a screening of The Price of Free after hearing Kailash speak at The Hague and reported it inspired many people to speak up and share the principles of justice in their own communities. "I first saw Kailash in One Young World 2018. Kailash's effort shows that slavery still exist. Like Kailash, I believe every child should be free from exploitation and exercise their rights, as guaranteed in The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child," said Margianta. Join him by hosting your own screening!
