Chris Eigeland of Australia has just raised $4 million in investment to expand his education technology startup, GO1.

Chris founded Queensland-based GO1 in 2012, a software platform that gives employers the opportunity to use existing courses to train staff and customers, or customise their own teaching courses. Creating a growing marketplace, GO1 provides an e-commerce platform where course designers can sell their programs to buyers across the globe.

Among several venture capital firms and investors, Shark Tank’s Steve Baxter and Tank Stream Venture have provided major financial backing. Last year, GO1 was accepted to the prestigious accelerator program, Y Combinator, in Silicon Valley; they were one of roughly 100 companies who were selected out of a pool of over 10,000 applications. Y Combinator has been behind tech unicorns like Airbnb and Dropbox.

Chris currently serves as the 2016 UN Youth Representative for Australia; he is driven to address issues of global significance with young Australians and link them with opportunities to promote entrepreneurship, social engagement and innovation. He also serves as the Non-Executive Director of Global Voices, a not-for-profit seeking to promote an understanding of and participation in international diplomacy by young Australians.

After attending the first One Young World Summit 2010 in London, he co-founded ‘The Schoolbag’, which provides basic school supplies to young people in need, starting in Haiti. Between 2010 and 2012, he was the recipient of several major recognitions including the Australian Leadership Award- Australian Davos Connection, Young Citizen of the Year- Redland City Council, and State Finalist-Young Australian of the Year.
