#OYW2019 Delegate Speakers Announced

The 30 exceptional young leaders who will take to the stage as Delegate Speakers in the five plenary sessions at One Young World’s 2019 Summit have now been chosen.

This year, One Young World returns ‘home’ to London for the 10th Annual Summit - set to be the biggest since the movement began in 2010. The specially selected Delegate Speakers will address an audience of over 2,000 people, on the subjects of Poverty Alleviation, Education, Peaceful Futures, Planetary Health and Media Freedom.

It was a Friday, the eve of another protest called for by interim President Juan Guaidó. Was it the sixth protest? Or the seventh? In the five months of heightened tension and crisis in Venezuela, I’ve lost count.

Imprisoned activist Loujain was featured in the 100 leaders of 2019 published by Time Magazine. As it approaches a year since she was arrested by the Saudi regime for her fearless activism challenging discriminatory laws against women, the magazine has recognised her as “a model of Saudi womanhood”.

OYW & European Commission host international peacebuilding Caucus in Kigali

The world’s leading young peacebuilders gathered in Kigali for a Caucus hosted by the European Commission and One Young World – the global forum for young leaders.

Coming 25 years after the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, the two-day event explored how the world can learn from Rwanda’s experience of forgiveness and reconciliation with the aim of countering violent extremism across the globe.
