Launched on the 2nd of August at Macquarie University, the establishment of Youth Unite For Education aims to enable young people to be active in community service projects as part of their educational experience. The organisation will encourage and arrange for young people to engage with their local communities through identified community service projects, especially those that seek to reduce social and economic disadvantage, and encourage social inclusion. In particular, Youth Unite For Education will give students the opportunity to work with community partners in the development of educational programmes within community service projects. In the long-term, Youth Unite For Education projects will become student-run programmes and recognised for academic credit allowing youth to give back to their community whilst directly contributing to the reduction of social, cultural or economic exclusion both locally and ultimately overseas.
