About International Service

International Service is a development charity, based in York, that for over 60 years, has been empowering some of the world’s most marginalised people to achieve lasting, positive change. 

The charity currently operates in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana and the occupied Palestine Territories, in partnership with local community-based organisations.  Alongside this work International Services recruit, train, and deliver International Citizenship Service (ICS) Volunteer teams who work with their partners in these countries.  To learn more about their work, please see internationalservice.org.uk

Join the board

International Service is governed by a Board of Trustees, responsible for developing strategy, monitoring progress, and ensuring good governance. The charity is currently looking for a new trustee to take on the role of Treasurer.  This involves oversight of the organisation’s finances and advising the board on financial matters. 

The board are looking to appoint a young, highly motivated individual, based in the UK, who has a passion for international development and professional experience of financial management. The board meets, in York, every two months.  In alternate months they have a Management Committee meeting comprising the Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer, and senior management team.

We believe that there is a One Young World Ambassador in the UK who is the ideal person to take on this exciting role and International Service have asked us to help find that person. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your professional expertise to support an international organisation that makes a great positive impact.
