Sexual violence: a leading theme at #OYW2018

Over the past year, sexual violence has quickly risen to the top of the global agenda as one of the most critical issues plaguing both developed and developing countries. Long have the atrocities committed in wartime gone unrecognised, with sexual violence used as a common tool of abuse typically against women and children. Yet with the upheaval of the #MeToo movement and the subsequent outpouring of international outcry, this matter now remains a fixture in world news. 

Hollywood actress & activist Rosario Dawson and business partner Abrima Erwiah to attend #OYW2018

The Hollywood actor, social entrepreneur and activist Rosario Dawson is to become a One Young World Counsellor and will address delegates at the upcoming 2018 Summit in The Hague. She’ll be joined by Abrima Erwiah, with whom she co-founded the Studio One Eighty Nine social enterprise.

Sir John Major to address delegates at #OYW2018

One Young World is proud to announce that The Rt Hon Sir John Major KG CH will attend the One Young World 2018 Summit in The Hague, Netherlands.

An inspiration to young politicians and budding statesmen, Sir John became involved in politics at the early age of 16 and, in 1968, won his first Election to a local authority in Lambeth.  In Parliament, Sir John served in the Government for 16 years, and held a number of positions in Cabinet, including Foreign Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer. From 1990 - 1997, he served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Queen Máxima to attend Opening Ceremony at OYW2018

Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands will officially open the One Young World 2018 Summit in The Hague this month.

Queen Máxima will attend the Summit's Opening Ceremony in the garden of the Peace Palace on Wednesday 17 October. This year's summit will bring together over 1,800 young leaders from around the world to debate and work on innovative solutions to global problems.

It's official: One Young World will host 2020 Summit in Munich

One Young World, the global forum for young leaders, today announces Munich as the host city for its global Summit in 2020.  

The Summit will take place from October 14th – 17th 2020, where over 1,800 young leaders from more than 190 countries will gather across the city’s well-known venues, including the Olympiapark, Olympiahalle, and The Residenz.

Kompass and Cordaid support 5 human rights campaigners to speak at #OYW2018

Civil rights organisation Kompass and development organisation Cordaid have supported 5 young leaders to speak at the One Young World 2018 Summit in The Hague. These five young leaders are working to improve human rights, delivering high impact initiatives across The Netherlands. They will speak about their work and experiences, sharing a stage with influential campaigners including Terry Crews and Naomi Campbell.

The One Young World 2018 Summit in The Hague is the organisation’s biggest yet, with 1800+ delegates attending from 190+ countries.
