Developing Africa's top talent through coding

South Africa has an estimated 4 million young people unemployed and a shortage of at least 70,000 software engineers - but thankfully it also has the groundbreaking We Think Code_ initiative to reconcile those two issues.

Co-founded by One Young World Ambassador Camille Agon, We Think Code_ (WTC) trains 300 young software engineers at its Johannesburg campus and is planning to open its second campus in Cape Town by the end of this year.

Jerome Jarre launches Facebook Village

The #LoveArmy for Somalia co-founder Jerome Jarre has unveiled a new programme for harnessing the power of social media to tackle hunger in Africa without having to import food from the West.

The One Young World Ambassador, who raised $2.4m for Somalia in 72 hours in March in response to the country’s devastating drought, has created Facebook Village to enable donors to give funds directly to Somalis.

One Young World Barcelona Caucus: Best moments

On 30 June – 1 July, One Young World hosted its third European Caucus of 2017 at the Mobile World Centre in Barcelona, Spain. The event brought together One Young World Ambassadors and other young leaders from more than 25 countries and was a unique opportunity to connect face to face, explore opportunities for collaboration and gain insight into a range of emerging issues.
