Please arrive promptly for registration and welcome drinks.

17:00 Session 1: Guest speaker, Saidah Carter

Saidah is the Head of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation and Africa Lead for the Thomson Reuters Labs. Saidah built her career in the United States rising to VP of Strategy and Business Innovation for New York and Atlanta. Her move to Africa was spurred by the desired to continue and accelerate the Africa Innovation work she began while she was living in New York.

Today Saidah pursues her passion for building innovative, digital content experiences for consumers and professionals with an increased focus on the intersection of mobile, social and emerging markets. Saidah is also a global co-chair of the black employee network.

17:45 Session 2: Guest speaker, Louise Van Rhyn

Louise is the CEO of Partners for Possibility ("PfP"), an organization tackling the education crisis in South Africa that has been endorsed by the likes of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Pravin Gordhan, Professor Thuli Madonsela, Trevor Manuel and may other well-known figures.

Louise, with a doctoral degree in organisational change, has 25 years' experience as a change practitioner with a focus on large scale change in complex social systems. She has worked with diverse local and global organisations, across all sectors, in many countries.

As an experienced and established social entrepreneur Louise has a wealth of insight and wisdom to share with the next generation of up and coming social entrepreneurs. She will speak on her journey with PfP, how she developed the concept and scaled it, the results produced and the challenges experienced and continue to experience.

18:00 Session 3: Pitch your project

The first of its kind! This session is designed to showcase active ambassador projects in our local community and establish how we can collaborate and support each other’s initiatives. Post the pitches, each ambassador (presenters and audience) will be asked to pledge support for one other initiative during the year. The contribution of the pledger can be from something as small as sharing the other ambassador’s work on social media or attending one of their events in the year, to something bigger that they feel that they may be able to assist with in the project. Our hope is to illustrate that One Young World is much more that an international conference, and creates a local community that work together for tangible outcomes.

3-4 initiatives will get the opportunity to showcase their work on the night in a 2,5 minute pitch. If you would like to be one of them, please email [email protected] with the subject line: Showcase my work – 26 March 2018 for further instructions.

19:00 Session 4: Set the 2018 community agenda

As Coordinating Ambassador, I am here to serve the needs of our community. The only way to effectively achieve this, is to understand what local ambassadors would like from our community on the ground. Please come some thought as to what you feel community is about and what you would like to see happening in our network.

Want to bring a guest?

As a local community, we should be passionate about affording other people the incredible opportunity we have all had. If you know someone that has the characteristics of a One Young World Ambassador, we have reserved some guest spots. Follow these easy steps:

Step 1: Include them in your RSVP via the link above in the section that allows you to add a guest

Step 2: Please email [email protected] with the subject line: Guest 26 March including in the body of the email a short paragraph on why this person would be a great OYW delegate and include their contact details. This will allow us to have their details unhand should any scholarship opportunities arise.
