As CEO of CP Group, Suphachai Chearavanont is one of Thailand's most prominent business leaders
As CEO of Charoen Pokphand Group Co Ltd (CP Group), Suphachai Chearavanont is one of Thailand's most prominent business leaders. Until he was called to lead CP Group in 2017, Chearavanont spearheaded the telecommunications arm of the family empire, leading True Corporation to become Thailand's second-largest telecommunications network provider. He also plays top roles at CP Foods, CP ALL, TrueMove and TrueVisions. Within CP Group, he is instrumental in strategising a sustainable business approach in line with United Nations directives.
Besides the multiple hats he wears in the company established by his father, Chearavanont holds the position of chairman for the Connext ED Foundation and has been honoured for his dedication to education development. Additionally, he was presented with the 2020 Pillar of Dharma Leadership Award for organising the first-ever reality television programme in Thailand to promote Buddhist principles—True Little Monk, which follows a group of youths as they dedicate themselves to temple life.
Chearavanont has also had a number of public roles: he was formerly the president of the Telecommunications Association of Thailand, and is president of the United Nations Global Compact Network Association of Thailand; he is also chairman of the Digital Council of Thailand and a director of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Suphachai Chearavanont is the youngest son of Dhanin Chearavanont, senior chairman of CP Group and head of the Chearavanont family. Suphachai's eldest brother, Soopakij Chearavanont, is chairman of CP Group. The Chearavanont family continues to hold the number one position in the Forbes list of Thailand's richest families, with their wealth surging to US$34 billion in 2023.
