One Young World Academy: NATO and the Future of Global Security and Peace

The One Young World Academy is a globally recognised e-learning platform designed to empower young leaders to make an impact. Developed with NATO's sponsorship, we are launching a special series focused on critical global security and peace challenges. The Academy series will explore how collective efforts - combining strategic partnerships, innovation, and youth engagement - are essential to advancing global security outcomes and maintaining peace in an increasingly complex world.

About the course

NATO's mission centres on safeguarding collective security and peace through the strength of the Alliance and its strategic partnerships. This academy series will focus on NATO's evolving role in shaping global security, examining how the Alliance has responded to critical turning points in the geopolitical landscape and addressing today's main security threats. The course will emphasize the vital role young leaders play in contributing to NATO's mission and securing peace for future generations.

Course content & assessment

The course consists of two comprehensive modules 20 – 25 minutes each. Detailed descriptions of each module will be announced in due course. Each module includes a short quiz to test your understanding of key concepts.

Session 1: NATO’s Role in Global Security and Peace

This session examines NATO’s role in shaping global security and peace. It explores how NATO has adopted an approach to navigate complex challenges to demonstrate how it continues to contribute to its core objective of global peace and security, and create sustainable and meaningful impact and solutions globally.

Session 2: The Role of Youth in the Future of Security and Peace

This session will explore how young leaders can play a role in shaping global security and peace. It will examine how young leaders can drive change and create solutions aligned with the organisation's goals. This can be discussed from any work area or experience, showing how young leaders can contribute to NATO’s success and shape the future of global peace and security meaningfully.
