Alexis Rubiel Alfaro Jiménez

Alexis Alfaro is a Tojolabal Maya Indigenous educator committed to the revitalisation of Indigenous pedagogies and to the construction of more just futures for Indigenous peoples. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Research at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional. His professional trajectory has focused on exploring and strengthening the ways in which knowledge, memory, and collective consciousness can contribute to the transformation of community life. He is Executive Director of Ch’ieltik, a Mexican civil society organisation that works alongside Indigenous children, adolescents, and youth in Chiapas through its intervention model #FortaleciendoJóvenes. This model builds community leadership skills among Maya children, adolescents, and youth in Chiapas, while preserving and strengthening their cultural heritage and the core values of Lekil Kuxlejal (Good Living). Through its operational team, “Equipo Semillero”, Ch’ieltik delivers linguistically and culturally relevant education grounded in Indigenous languages, local knowledge, and strong community partnerships.
