Ali Ramezani is an Iranian journalist, human rights documentarian, and Editor-in-Chief of Amirkabir Newsletter, one of Iran’s most influential independent student media platforms. For nearly a decade, he has documented abuses that many authorities sought to hide, transforming witness testimony, leaked documents, and field reporting into evidence used by international media, human rights organizations, and global student networks.
His investigations have exposed confidential policies behind the securitisation of Iranian universities, revealed records showing that 2,843 students were summoned to disciplinary committees during the post-protest crackdown, and documented widespread violations of academic freedom. His reporting on the case of Ahoo Daryaei and on the killing of Tehran University student Amir Mohammad Khaleghi drew international attention to emblematic cases of injustice. He also contributed to major efforts documenting student arrests, repression, and the identities of students killed during nationwide protests.
Beyond reporting events, Ramezani’s work has helped preserve evidence, protect historical memory, and amplify the voices of young Iranians whose stories might otherwise remain unheard. In recognition of this impact, Amirkabir Newsletter received the 2025 Aachen Peace Prize. A laureate of the International Microelectronics Olympiad, Ramezani has continued his journalistic mission despite his arrest, a prison sentence exceeding four years, expulsion from university, and life in exile—demonstrating an enduring commitment to public-interest journalism, accountability, and the defence of fundamental human rights.
