Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture

Winner of the Generation Regen Challenge: presented by BMO

Emily Harris is the Executive Director of the Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture.

The Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture tackles the intersecting problems of degradation of agricultural soils, the aging of Canada’s farming sector, and limited access to land. It seeks to address the urgent need for regenerative farming education for new and young farmers and ecosystem restoration on Vancouver Island to improve soil health and increase biodiversity.

As Executive Director of the Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture, operated by the non-profit Circular Farm and Food Society, Emily has strengthened partnerships and existing programs while launching new initiatives. She established the Sandown Farm, a one-acre regenerative farm producing fresh vegetables for food banks and school meal programs, and serving as a hands-on educational site for youth and adults of all abilities. Under her leadership, the Centre has secured significant grant revenue to expand program reach. Emily’s work integrates practical farming, community food security, and experiential education, demonstrating a track record of building sustainable, inclusive, and impactful agricultural initiatives.
