My name is Mohamed Ahmed Yasin. I was born and raised in Hargeisa, Somalia. I attended SOS Children's Villages School, one of the country's best schools in primary and secondary schools. Following my secondary education, I was granted a prestigious full scholarship to the African Leadership Academy (ALA) in South Africa. At ALA, I studied business and computer science.
Currently, I work as a programming instructor and mentor young people interested in joining the technology sector. I advocate for quality education, job creation and women empowerment.
I co-founded Tayo Skills School - a vocational institution in Somalia that provides young women with essential skills in tailoring, makeup and beauty, plumbing, and culinary arts. Through Tayo School, we equip these women with the training and tools they need to secure meaningful employment and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
Within the past three years, Tayo School has successfully empowered more than 700 young women with the above employable skills, opening doors to economic independence and a brighter future. My biggest aspiration is establishing a mentorship program that connects young people with successful professionals in their desired fields.
Community-wise, I actively volunteer with Somaliland Lifemakers, serving as fundraising coordinator. I love participating in community development activities that uplift underprivileged individuals and foster positive change.
