Joshua co-founded ableMove, a social enterprise that provides daily living aids to disabled people to support travel and outdoor activities through adaptive mobility products.

ableMove began in 2019 by Joshua, a wheelchair user living with spinal muscular atrophy type 3, who was frustrated by the lack of products enabling disabled people to travel and explore with freedom, dignity, and safety. Boarding an aircraft as a wheelchair user too often means transferring to a narrow aisle chair with no supportive equipment, at risk of injury, and reliant on untrained staff. Similarly in the outdoor space, without products such as leg straps to stabilise limbs over uneven terrain or waterproof covers to swim, shower, and participate in water-based activities, wheelchair users face barriers that prevent equitable participation in leisure.

ableMove has fulfilled approximately 2,500 orders across more than 30 countries, serving customers in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Japan, South America, and the United Arab Emirates. Of these, 750 sales were for the enterprise’s slings, which improve access to safe air travel, while a further 1,000 were for waterproof wheelchair covers and leg straps. The waterproof covers enable wheelchair users to swim, shower, and participate in water-based activities, while the leg straps help protect users from falls during activity. Joshua has begun development of two additional ventures: ableFly and Inclusive Flight Planner, both focused on improving the aviation industry for disabled people.

After attending the 2024 Summit in Montréal, Joshua was featured in a video on One Young World social media, showcasing his range of adaptive projects. Additionally, he has remained in close contact with The BrandTech Group team, entering into follow-up meetings to explore how generative AI can be embedded into his soon to be launched Inclusive Flight Planner tool. Josh is also a member of the Great British Paralympic shooting team, and hopeful to represent the United Kingdom at the 2028 Summer Paralympics.
