Bonnie Chiu, 24, created Lensational to provide photographic skills to marginalised women who would not normally have a voice, from domestic helps in Hong Kong to the children of sex workers in Pakistan. It was founded on International Women’s Day as a Facebook page and has found major stakeholders including the Guardian and TEDx. Photography has helped the participating women to gain confidence and to retain memories of things that are dear to them.
Impact:
- 604 women trained in digital photography.
- 130 female photographers have sold work.
- 4,000 viewers of photography at exhibitions and 10,000 more on social media.
