Joshua is the Founder of Red Diamond Compost, an organisation focused on reducing toxic synthetic chemicals in the environment through regenerative agriculture.
Red Diamond Compost began in 2021 following Joshua’s diagnosis with mononucleosis, which led him to start a home garden to grow nutrient-dense food and explore the link between soil health and nutrition. The organisation trains farmers in regenerative agriculture, helping them reduce synthetic inputs while improving land management and ecosystem health. Through soil analysis and tailored farming systems, farmers gain a better understanding of crop selection, disease resilience, and soil restoration. These approaches improve productivity and help farms withstand climate-related challenges such as heatwaves.
To date, the project has delivered workshops and masterclasses in regenerative agriculture to more than 5,800 individuals. Its organic biostimulant products are used by approximately 1,500 home gardeners, smallholder growers, and commercial farmers, reducing synthetic fertiliser use by 30%, lowering input costs, and mitigating 820 tCO2. In addition, the programme has worked directly with 25 commercial farmers, providing full farm management support to help them transition from conventional to regenerative agricultural systems.
Joshua attended the 2023 Summit in Belfast, where he was a Delegate Speaker for the Food Crisis Plenary Challenge. During the Summit, he engaged in discussions on building sustainable and regenerative supply chains and contributed to early framework development for transitioning farms towards regenerative practices. This also supported the launch of the organisation’s 1,000-acre pilot programme. Key conversations with representatives from global companies such as Coca-Cola and Starbucks further informed his thinking on sustainable supply chains and circular systems.
“At the One Young World Summit, through the food crisis planning session, I had the opportunity to speak to a wider audience. People from across the world resonated with my story, which was completely unexpected. Coming from a small region, it was a powerful and monumental moment for me.”
