Rhoda is the Founder of Zero Hunger Alabel, an initiative focused on supporting mothers, children, and communities experiencing food insecurity and flooding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zero Hunger Alabel was established in 2020 in response to the loss of income experienced by many families during the pandemic, which left communities unable to access or afford food.Rhoda and her team distributed food packages to vulnerable families, particularly breastfeeding mothers and children. The initiative also provided transistor radios to elementary school students to support radio-based learning while schools remained closed during the pandemic.
Zero Hunger Alabel has impacted more than 2,000 people during the pandemic through direct food assistance programmes. The initiative distributed over 500 food packages to breastfeeding mothers and children, including milk and baby food products, and provided more than 1,000 food relief packages to communities affected by floods in the Philippines, through partnerships with other organisations. In addition, the organisation distributed 500 elementary school students who received transistor radios to continue their education remotely through radio-based learning.
Rhoda attended the 2024 Summit in Montréal. She was inspired by the Politician of the Year Award recipients and their stories of leadership in politics. Her key takeaway from the Summit was the importance of networking and how meaningful connections can help turn ideas into reality. Through the summit, she also connected with Coordinating Ambassadors across Southeast Asia. Being an Ambassador motivated her to become more dedicated to truly making the world a better place for future generations.
