What is the Global Leadership Academy?

The Global Leadership Academy (GLA) was co-founded by Joel Nicholson, a Canadian One Young World Ambassador and education professional.

It offers a structured 8-month program for 18-25 year olds looking for a year of transformation and achievement. It is based in Toronto, Canada, but applications are welcome from all over the world.

It is aimed at students who want a year of self-discovery, skills development, and real-world experience  while they work or study.

For more information, visit the Global Leadership Academy website.

What is on the program?

GLA’s program is founded on a leadership development approach that takes students through a transformational, four-phase journey of self-discovery, skills development, and real-world impact.

To graduate, students need to complete six quantifiable achievements. Achievements can be completed at any time within a one year timeframe. This flexibility makes the program suitable for current students who are not be able to do a volunteer abroad trip and an internship during their school semester.

There are two programs per year: one that starts in September, the other in January. The first four months of the program are based in Toronto, Canada, at the GLA headquarters. After that, students are out in the world, achieving the remaining elements of the program that could not be done during the first segment, such as a socially responsible internship or a volunteer placement abroad.

How do I apply?

To apply, visit the Global Leadership Academy website and complete the application form before May 1 2015.
