One Young World Ambassador raises $100 million for makeup startup

One Young World Ambassador Michelle Phan’s makeup delivery startup, Ipsy, has raised $100 million USD in funding.

Michelle co-founded Ipsy in 2011 with CEO Marcelo Camberos, a former executive at Funny or Die, and Jennifer Goldfarb, an executive at Bare Escentuals who is now President at Ipsy.

Ipsy is a subscription makeup delivery service that delivers makeup samples and other beauty products to its customers for $10 per month, with the aim that users will then watch product tutorials by stylists. It is the world's largest online makeup community with over 1 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.

Michelle spoke on a panel for Most Successful Entrepreneur of the Year at the One Young World Summit 2014 in Dublin and was on a Forbes 2015 30 Under 30 list in the category of Art and Style.

Michelle is widely known for her YouTube channel makeup tutorials, some of which garner over eight million views. She has produced over 300 videos since 2007 and her videos have been viewed over one billion times. Her channel is not solely focused on beauty, but also DIY, cooking, and a series called ‘Pillow Talk’ that focuses on discussing topics submitted by followers such as online privacy and insecurities in the digital age.
