17 One Young World Ambassadors have been selected to advance to the next stage of the Kruger Cowne Rising Star Programme. The programme, run in partnership with XCOR Space Expeditions and Spaceship Earth Grants, will see one inspiring young person take a seat on, a once in a lifetime, flight to space.
Of the 30 outstanding people shortlisted at this stage of the selection process, three finalists will be chosen to attend the One Young World Summit 2015 in Bangkok. Once there, they will take to the stage in front of 1,300 delegates from 196 countries, as well as a panel of iconic judges, to deliver an inspirational address on a topic of their choice. An established panel of One Young World Counsellors will deliberate before announcing on stage their chosen Rising Star.
As representatives of many of the world’s best known humanitarians, entertainers and entrepreneurs including Sir Bob Geldof, Elle Macpherson, and Boris Becker, Talent and Rights Management Agency Kruger Cowne will continue to support the programme winner with a three year management contract to assist them with possible publishing, TV and public appearances.
The chosen Rising Star will complete their spaceflight in 2016, on board the XCORE Lynx. The flight will not only provide a life changing journey but the Lynx will also carry out scientific tests, contributing to research that brings the possibility of commercial space flight ever closer. One Young World wishes all of the shortlisted candidates the best of luck in the next stage of selection for this incredible programme.
