Kofi Annan, Sir Bob Geldof & Professor Muhammad Yunus addressed 1,250 young leaders at the FNB Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of the One Young World Summit 2013 in [[[image-0 medium right]]]Johannesburg, South Africa.
Addressing the delegates from 190 countries Annan said: “It is your leadership that we depend upon…all too often you are shut out from the discussions and decisions that will frame your country’s future and shape your lives. This might be defensible if the present generation of leaders were doing such a good job. But all around us, we can see bad governance.”
[[[image-1 medium right]]]Reflecting on the shortcomings of his own generation Geldof warned the delegates: “You cannot afford to let your generation fail.”
Professor Yunus said to delegates: “You are lucky to have been born in an age where what was impossible is becoming possible. Each one of you is capable of changing the whole world. Feel that power inside of you and make use of it.”
