One Young World 2021 Peace Ambassadors Cohort Statement on Ukraine
The One Young World 2021 Peace Ambassadors Cohort condemns the Russian military action against the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of Ukraine.
The threat or use of force is prohibited by the United Nations Charter and the war is certainly the worst human disaster.
Military action will not only lead to suffering of both soldiers and civilians of the two countries, but could also escalate to a broader war threatening peace and security worldwide.
We deeply regret that we have to witness shelling of the Ukrainian cities and the civilian population. While hundreds of thousands Ukranians are forced to leave their homes, we stand in support and solidarity with Ukraine and its people.
We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of military and proxy forces from Ukraine. We request from the international community to use all nonviolent means necessary in order to stop the war in Ukraine.
