Bibian Mentel

Three-time Champion Winter Paralympian

Bibian Mentel-Spee was a three-time Champion Winter Paralympian, winning three gold medals as well as being a five-time world champion para-snowboarding athlete.

Bibian Mentel won gold medals in the Paralympic Winter Games for snowboard cross in 2014 and 2018, as well as for banked slalom in 2018, despite battling cancer nine times over the last two decades, and winning her 2018 medals at age 45. Her last operation was in January 2018, giving her only a month to train for her second Paralympic Games, which began in March 2018.

Bibian created the Mentelity Foundation, to stimulate, motivate, and inspire children and adolescents with a physical disability to continue to engage in sports, both in general as well as extreme board sports in particular.
