Bibian Mentel

Bibian Mentel-Spee is a three time Champion Winter Paralympian, winning 3 gold medals as well as being a five time world champion para-snowboarding athlete. Bibian Mentel won gold medals in the Paralympic Winter Games for snowboard cross in 2014 and 2018, as well as for banked slalom in 2018, despite battling cancer nine times over the last two decades, and winning her 2018 medals at age 45. Her last operation was in January 2018, giving her only a month to train for her second Paralympic Games, which began in March and had to crowdfund her participation as most of her sponsors had given up on her. She has also created the Mentelity Foundation, to stimulate, motivate, and inspire children and adolescents with a physical disability to continue to engage in sports, both in general, as well as in extreme board sports in particular.
