Activist - Black Lives Matter

DeRay Mckesson is an American civil rights activist and former school administrator. He is a member of the Black Lives Matter movement and is known for his activism via social media outlets such as Twitter and Instagram. He has been active in protests in Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland and is a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post and The Guardian. In April 2015, DeRay co-launched “Mapping Police Violence,” collated data on people who were killed by the US police in 2014. In August 2015, he participated in the launch of Campaign Zero, a policy platform to end police violence. He currently hosts the Crooked Media podcast “Pod Save the People”, which he has described as a way “of discussing activism, race, equity, and solutions with a range of people in a candid way”. DeRay continues to campaign against police brutality in the United States.
