
Join us at the One Young World Southern Africa Post-Summit event!
Regional post-summit events are managed by Coordinating Ambassadors, with the responsibility of engaging 2022 Delegates who have now joined the global community. This year, the Southern African post-summit event will be a hybrid engagement, featuring newly appointed Ambassadors, the One Young World Southern African team and the broader One Young World Community. Youth involvement in particularly important in driving impactful change in the private and public sector and is the focus of this event. This event will be themed around “role of Youth in driving and creating a more impactful and sustainable world”, and will feature a panel discussion with impactful One Young World Ambassadors.

Keynote Speaker: Gugu McLaren-Ushewokunze
Gugu McLaren-Ushewokunze is the Head of Economic Inclusion at the National Business Initiative (NBI). Her responsibilities include developing and implementing the NBI’s strategy to engage business in driving our most challenging social issues with the aim of addressing inequality, exclusion and inequity. She has more than 15 years’ experience in the field of social and sustainable development, having worked across sectors, with the bulk of her career within the corporate sector driving the development and implementation of sustainability and ESG strategies. She holds a MSocSc in Gender and Development from the University of Cape Town.

Host: Mpho Manyisa
Mpho Manyisa is the One Young World Southern Africa Coordinating Ambassador and very passionate about driving impact amongst young people. She is currently studying her Masters in Management at Wits Business School. She has been awarded with the Service of Champion award at the 2021 Wits Student Leadership Awards, selected as one of 200 Mail and Guardian Young South African’s and Mail and Guardian’s Top 50 Powerful Women driving change in Africa for her work through One Young World.

Welcome speaker: Hamlet Morule
Hamlet Morule is the Head of Communications & External Affairs at bp Southern Africa. He has more than 30 years of experience in both public and private sectors, having held various roles including, accounting officer for the provincial governments of the North West and Free State, governmental programs executive for IBM, and government affairs lead at Microsoft SA. He holds various academic qualifications, including an LLM from the University of Free State and Master of Science degree in development and project planning from the University of Bradford (UK).

Panel facilitator: Maita Mkombachoto
Maita is a Business Development Consultant at bp Southern Africa. She drives business performance in bp’s convenience business and in addition to this, Maita has been close to bp’s energy transition and has advised the European business on various sustainability initiatives since 2020. She recently represented bp at One Young World 2022 in Manchester as a result of her work in sustainability. She has a keen interest in personal development and currently leads the planning portfolio of the Employment Equity and Skills Development Committee at bp. She has legal background, having attained her LLM and MSc in Business Management and Strategy at BPP Law School in Manchester.’
