Facebook hosts One Young World

By creating spaces for collaboration and driving awareness of the world's most pressing issues, social media has created and empowered a new generation of changemakers

On 12 July, Facebook's Carolyn Everson will host One Young World Ambassadors at the company's New York headquarters to explore the ways in which social media networks have radically expanded the tools available for creating social impact.  At this event, you'll hear Carolyn Everson, VP of Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook, in conversation with David Jones, co-founder of One Young World and founder of the world's first brandtech company, You & Mr Jones.

Jérôme Jarre

Jerome is a French entrepreneur who grew a following of over 7.5 million followers. He is the man behind the Love Army for Somalia campaign where he crowdsourced $2 million in 72 hours from over 90,000 donors. After spending 4 months in Somalia, Jerome will reveal a new model co-created with the locals, a revolutionary solution to create a global shift.

His talk will be followed with a Q&A.

Renan Ferreirinha Carneiro

​Having founded 2 education enterprises, O Formigueiro and Mapa Educação and a political movement, Acredito, in Brazil, Renan will discuss how he successfully launched national campaigns to thousands of young persons via social media. 

Jacob Castaldi

Jacob is a social media publisher turned philanthropic entrepreneur. Through his brand Ivory Ella, Jacob has led the online retail brand to donate nearly $1m to Save The Elephants. You'll hear how he built his success via social media campaigns and how he plans to use his influence to create a more sustainable future.   

Kara Dickstein Wenger

Kara Dickstein Wenger is the NYC lead for the Circle of Young Intrapreneurs (COYI), a movement designed to inspire, guide, develop and deliver purpose-driven business ideas from social intrapreneurs inside corporate organizations globally. Kara will share how COYI rapidly grew as a global movement through the power of social media. 

Lauren Griewski, Morgan Hewett and Bryce Anderson

The Facebook Ambassadors will share their transformational experience at One Young World 2016 Ottawa and introduce the inspiration for new social good projects that will launch at October's One Young World 2017 Summit in Bogotá.

Ambassador Torin Perez will also warm up the audience ahead of Carolyn Everson's Q&A and structure a networking session after the talks.

About Carolyn Everson

Carolyn Everson is Vice President, Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook and Instagram, where she leads the company’s relationships with top marketers and agencies. Carolyn oversees a team of regional leaders, and the teams focused on global partnerships, global agencies, and the Creative Shop.

Prior to Facebook, Carolyn was the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Global Advertising Sales and Trade Marketing Teams. Carolyn also spent seven years at MTV Networks. Her last role was as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of U.S. Ad Sales for MTV Networks, where she oversaw strategic planning, operations, and finance for MTVN’s U.S. Ad Sales department. She also was responsible for MTVN’s Direct Response business and for Generator, the cross-platform, cross-brand strategic sales and marketing group.

Carolyn has been named to AdWeek’s “AdWeek 50” since 2013. In 2015, she was named to the top of Business Insider’s list of the Most Powerful Women in Advertising, and she has been named a “Woman to Watch” by Advertising Age. Carolyn was twice included on Fortune’s “40 Under 40.”.

About Kate Robertson

Formerly Global President of Havas Worldwide, Kate founded One Young World in 2009 with then Havas CEO David Jones. The inaugural Summit was held in London in 2010 – and since then has taken place in Zurich, Pittsburgh, Johannesburg, Dublin, Bangkok and Ottawa. In 2015 she quit the world of marketing and advertising in order to focus on the One Young World organisation full time. In 2014 Kate was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Lausanne Business School, alongside Paul Polman, and she holds Honorary Masters degrees from the University of Creative Arts and from the European Communications School. In 2012 she was named Agency Woman of the Year by Women In Marketing and in 2014 was named Industry Icon by Advertising Week Europe. 

About David Jones

David Jones is the founder and CEO of You & Mr Jones, the world's first brandtech group. He was formerly the CEO of Havas and Havas Worldwide, making him the youngest global network head in the history of  advertising, He was named Guardian Sustainable Business Leader 2013, following a public vote. David was the driving force behind Kofi Annan’s TckTckTck Campaign for Climate Justice, one of the most successful cause campaigns in history with 18 million people signing up as 'climate allies'.  David was a member of the Facebook Client Council, was inducted into the American Advertising Federation’s Hall of Achievement in 2005, voted one of the two top executives of the decade by readers of Adweek, nominated as one of CR Magazine’s 2011 Responsible CEOs of the Year, and named on the "40 Under 40" lists of both Crain's New York Business and Advertising Age. David is the author of the best-selling book Who Cares Wins: Why Good Business is Better Business, published in December 2011 by Pearson/FT Publishing.

Jerome Jarre, 27

Jerome is the cofounder of the Love Army For Somalia campaign, a movement to rally immediate relief for those affected by the country's water and food shortages. 

Renan Ferreirinha Carneiro, 23

Renan is from a poor neighbourhood in Rio, Brazil. He is currently pursuing his Economics and Government degree at Harvard University where he is the Director of the Youth Leadership Initiative, Director of the Harvard Social Innovation Collaborative and founding member of the world-renown Brazil Conference. He is the cofounder of two education enterprises: O Formigueiro, the first Brazilian crowdfunding platform devoted to education and Mapa Educação, a movement with the mission of bringing education to the center of the Brazilian political debate. Renan is also one of the leaders of Acredito, a national and supra-party political movement that aims to support a new generation of leaders who can build a more inclusive, more developed, and ethical country.  He is a fellow from Fundação Estudar, Fundação Lemann and the Safra Center for Ethics.

Kara Dickstein Wenger, 29

Kara Dickstein Wenger is the NYC lead for the Circle of Young Intrapreneurs (COYI), a movement designed to inspire, guide, develop and deliver purpose-driven business ideas from social intrapreneurs inside corporate organizations globally. A passionate believer in the power of people within large organizations to innovate and drive change, Kara has spent most of her career focused on designing and implementing strategies to unlock the potential of human capital. In addition to leading the NYC chapter of COYI, she is currently a Global People Director at ZX Ventures, AB InBev's innovation and growth arm.

Torin Perez, 29

Torin is a leadership expert, speaker and author. To date, he has engaged audiences from over 60 countries in his programs, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to universities. He also leads global awareness initiatives for DreamAfrica, a platform created to increase cultural representation in digital media. A Top 40 startup in Africa, Torin was selected in 2016 to represent the company in the inaugural TED Talks Residency incubator for breakthrough ideas. Torin serves on the Junior Board of Directors for HEAF - a New York City education focused non-profit.

Morgan Hewett, 23

Morgan Hewett is a Client Solutions Manager at Facebook and specializes in Global Marketing Solutions. She has a passion for international business and graduated cum laude from Columbia University, majoring in East Asian Studies. Additionally, Morgan serves as an Ambassador to One Young World, where she works on projects that combine her love of international business with social good. 

Lauren Griewski, 31

Lauren Griewski leads business to business strategy in the Technology vertical as part of Facebook's Global Business Marketing division. In this role, she builds strategic partnerships with the top Fortune 500 tech marketers, enabling them to drive business results by leveraging Facebook’s advertising solutions and massive scale. In addition to making an impact in the world of business, Mashable has named Lauren to one of the 35 Fittest People in Tech.
