One Young World Counsellor Jamie Oliver takes on sugary drinks

Support Jamie Oliver and his mission to take action against the role sugar is playing in rising global health problems. The One Young World Counsellor is advocating for a revolution in our relationship with food. You can watch his documentary 'Sugar Rush' on Channel 4 at 9pm (BST) on Thursday 3 September.

Jamie is leading a campaign to introduce a 7p levy on sugary drinks per regular-sized can of soft drink with added sugar. This has the potential to generate £1 billion per year. The movement believe this crucial revenue should be ring-fenced to support much needed preventative strategies in the UK Naional Health Service and schools around childhood obesity and diet-related disease. You can read Jamie's manifestso here.

"This year my team and I started looking into sugar consumption and what we found led me to film a TV documentary that shows just how devastating the effects of consuming too much sugar can be. I have witnessed enough to give me a solid determination that we have to take action." - Jamie Oliver, One Young World Counsellor
