Opening Ceremony will be held on Parliament Hill

One Young World and Ottawa Tourism are pleased to announce that Parliament Hill has officially been designated as the location for the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 One Young World Summit in Ottawa. Mayor Jim Watson shared the news during a press conference held earlier today. Known as 'The Hill', the Ceremony will take place on the lawn of Parliament Hill, the home of Canada's Parliament.

The 1,300 delegates and Ambassadors will experience a dynamic and colorful reflection of Canadian culture at 6:30 pm on Wednesday 28 September. The Ceremony will kick off with the iconic flag-bearing procession where one delegate from each country represented at the Summit will lay a flag on stage.
Michael Crockatt, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism, expressed that, “Showcasing our innovative and exciting city to such a diverse group of current and future leaders is an honour, and to be able to incorporate Parliament Hill, one of the most recognizable symbols of Canada, is particularly special.”
Mayor Watson also announced the full Counsellor lineup, which includes, Kofi Annan, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson.
