First Lady of Ecuador

 

María De Lourdes Alcivar De Lasso attended her studies in her hometown and graduated from the "Liceo Panamericano” school, with an Ecuadorian Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences. In 1981 at the age of 18, she married Mr. Guillermo Lasso Mendoza, by catholic marriage, forming a family of 5 children, and as of today, 8 grandchildren.

Since 1993 she has done social work with OSCUS (Obra Social Cultural Sopeña in Spanish acronym), as a speaker on values, and later as a member of the board of directors and vice president for two periods.

She later worked at the Madre Dolorosa Foundation, collaborating with the provision of breakfasts and actively working with those in need. She carried out her first campaign to collect funds and inform about the hard and sacrificial work carried out by waste recyclers (called chamberos at the time in Ecuador).

Inspired by Father Pio de Pietrelcina, she presides over the Armada Blanca, a space from which she speaks of the love and consecration of children to God.

As a member of the Obra de la Unidad, since 1993, she has been working as vice president of the House of Mercy, leading programs and initiatives, both in Quito and Guayaquil benefiting homeless people and their families.

She also contributes as president of the Resurgere Foundation, in the Help Center for the Family in Crisis, a therapeutic and accompaniment community for recovery, reconciliation, and overcoming conflicts.

She is recognized for her altruism, her defense of life, her fight for order and family principles, and her faith in society. She is the inseparable companion of her husband and fundamental support in the different endeavors, paths, and areas in his work.

Currently, as First Lady of Ecuador, she serves as an ambassador for the Embrace for Adoption and Ecuador Grows without Chronic Child Malnutrition programs and manages different social activities within the commitment she has assumed with the President of the Republic for the development of the country.
