About

The Young Champions of the Earth program is searching for seven young people working on brilliant solutions to climate change. These Young Champions will receive a prize that includes seed funding, training, mentorship, international media coverage, and access to the UN network and a community of change-makers. 

If selected in the preliminary round participants will have to submit a pitch of their project for review by both a regional and global review committee.

Each one of the seven change-makers will receive:

  • $15,000 in seed funding

  • $9,000 to communicate and capture your idea and document and broadcast the stories of hope and change that you’re catalyzing on the ground

  • Attendance at a high-level UN meeting

  • An introduction to dignitaries at the Champions of the Earth award ceremony

  • Publicity and recognition through interviews and online and global media

  • Access to a community of experts offering insights and mentoring

  • Participation in an entrepreneurial training program

 

Eligibility:

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30.

They must have at least six months prior experience working on their environmental project.

10 February - 10 April: Application Period

10 April - 31 May: Regional Review Period 

20 May - 1 June: Submission of Regional Pitches

June-July: Global Review Period

September-October: 7 young Champions will be selected and recognized at the Champions of the Earth Award Ceremony.
