Volunteer with Bridging Gaps

Bridging Gaps is looking for motivated volunteers to support their Youth Exchange Program from July 2017- June 2018.

Bridging Gaps is an association seeking to start conversations on everyday racism. They strive for an equal society by asking critical question on societal structures as well as designing specific activities which unravel the complexities of society. The annual Bridges Camp is pioneered by young people, who are active in different cities within South Africa and Germany.

What is the Youth Exchange Programme?

Bridging Gaps has launched its annual youth exchange programme for 10 young people from Germany and South Africa. The project is funded by the German Ministry as part of the "German-African Youth Initiative,"  which aims to further collaboration among young people working toward a common future.

The project consists of two encounter phases in which 20 teenagers from both countries will meet each other in their respective countries, and a larger programme frame which involves an additional 60 teenagers.

What kind of support do they need?

  • Documentation and presentation of the project: Photographer and Film maker who can help us produce content showing our work
  • Press relations: contacting media houses and writing content
  • Social Media Strategy
  • M&E and Impact Measurements (anyone with experience in this field)
  • Fundraising / Crowdfunding

Why should you get involved?

The youth exchange programme will give you the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards a more inclusive society. Get involved with an international organisation creating a more inclusive, global society.

When will the programme start?

Project implementation will begin in September 2017 and run until the following year. All volunteering can be done remotely.
