Indonesian Youth Conference

,

Indonesian Youth Conference (IYC) was initiated in January 2009. It is an annual event, taking place in Indonesia every July, and comprises two events: Forum IYC and Festival IYC.

In Forum IYC, they invite 33 young activists from 33 provinces in Indonesia to come to Jakarta for free to attend a three-day workshop on project management skills in order to optimize their leadership potential and 'changemaking' activities back in their respective provinces/hometowns.

On the other hand, Festival IYC is a one-day event comprises a variety of talk shows and seminars; community exhibition; film screening; and music & cultural performances, and could be attended by anyone.

Forum IYC aims to empower young Indonesians who have done something for their communities and amplify their activities to those who are apathetic; while Festival IYC aims to spread awareness and remind young people that there are causes need to be taken care by youth also. In short, IYC aims to provide a platform for young people (Indonesia has more than 62 million youth aged 15 to 30 years old) to speak up and make their dreams come true.

In 2010, IYC was attended by 450 people. In 2011, IYC was attended by 1,200 people. In social media, IYC has created an impact, by having more than 10,000 followers on Twitter and more than 25,000 on its Facebook page.
