Following the 2011 Summit, Ambassadors from Westpac Group founded the Westpac Youth Network, a group of under 30’s now boasting over 800 members across Asia-Pacific.
Ambassadors leverage the network to deliver a range of social impacts, including a partnership with Australian education charity So They Can.
Based in Kenya, So They Can manages a school and children’s home as well as delivers assistance to people displaced by the county’s civil unrest in 2007. The Westpac Youth Network team raised more than $65,000 (AU) which went towards the education of 81 children in the care of So They Can, as well as shoes and sports equipment for the 600 strong primary school.
In October 2013, representatives of the Youth Network travelled to Kenya to volunteer with So They Can. Ambassador Jack Mannix went on to take a twelve month position with the charity to manage its micro-finance programme and business school.
In 2014 Westpac Group was recognised as the World’s Most Sustainable Company at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
