One Young World shines at Google Impact Challenge

Google Impact Challenge France has announced 1001fontaines as a winner, for which One Young World Ambassador Julien Ancele acts as Deputy CEO. The project has been awarded a 500,000 Euro grant and practical support from Google France to help bring clean drinking water to 1 million people by 2020. The competition is designed to reward innovative projects that use technology to make the world a better place.

1001fontaines recruits, trains, and supports micro-entrepreneurs within rural communities and has now enabled 96 entrepreneurs to produce clean drinking water locally for 180,000 people. The organisation has beneficiaries in Cambodia, Madagascar and India.

Among finalists were Ludovic de Gromard, a One Young World Ambassador from France. Ludovic co-founded Y Generation Education, an innovative education and vocational training programme that aims to train 200,000 young people by the year 2020.

The start-up enjoys the support of Nobel Laureate and One Young World Counsellor Professor Muhammad Yunus, who is directly involved in the project as Chairman. The programme was also featured at the White House as part of the President Obama's Upskill America Summit, where it was deemed a “visionary solution to revolutionize adult education".

Huge congratulations to both Julien and Ludovic for the amazing work that they are undertaking.
