What is a Delegate Speaker?
Delegate Speakers are the keynote speakers at the One Young World Summit. They are given the opportunity to speak directly to an audience of hundreds of young leaders, who represent every part of the globe, and work across a wide array of sectors.
Each of the plenary sessions contains six Delegate speeches. Delegate Speakers are introduced by a Counsellor and have the opportunity to address the Summit for approximately six minutes to share their experiences, opinions, and solutions to global challenges.
Who can apply?
All Summit Delegates may apply, including digital attendees.
Please note, to apply to be a Delegate Speaker you must be fully registered for the 2022 One Young World Summit.
What are the Plenary Sessions?
Plenary sessions are the cornerstones of the Summit and form the basis of most of the discussion and action plans.
This year there are five plenary sessions focusing on:
- Conflict prevention - how can we prevent conflicts?
- Oceans - how can we safeguard and restore the world’s oceans?
- Gender equality - how can we accelerate action to achieve gender equality?
- Health - how can we ensure health equity for all?
- Ethical leadership - how can we be and develop ethical leaders who are more responsible and effective than previous generations?
What are we looking for in Delegate Speakers?
- What is most essential, is that Delegate Speakers offer real-world experience and knowledge of the area they wish to talk about.
- We want speakers who have genuine credentials within the plenary subject.
- Delegate Speakers need to have original ideas and tangible plans of action to address a problem.
- Plenary sessions are about creating real solutions, not simply generating discussions.
- We also are looking for people who are full of passion and enthusiasm for the plenary topic and will inspire the Summit to go on to make real changes in the world around them.
- We provide every Delegate Speaker with expert coaching before the Summit to make sure they are suitably prepared.
