In 2012 Adel mobilised the young people of Algiers to demand a greater role for youth in policymaking. When the activists were denied the right to campaign in the streets they took to emailing government officials. When the volume of email traffic from the campaign caused the government’s server to crash the young people then flooded their offices with over 20,000 faxes. One week later Algerian President Abdelaziz Boutlefika announced a new process for consulting and engaging with youth leaders.
