Generation Next is a youth network which aims to provide opportunities for youth to move forward in every walk of life. Their mission includes :
- Conducting seminars, conferences and symposia related to the issues of youth and representing their issues in different forums, providing solutions, and contacting concerned authorities for solutions and advice.
- Establishment of schools and health centers.
- Promotion and development of youth through the collaboration of Government and International organizations and institutions.
Generation Next is determined to raise its voice on the above issues in order to improve the future of the youth and the nation in general.
Muhammed Ali Mustafa worked with Generation Next and volunteers from I OWN KARACHI and three major universities. He has raised over 1.1million PKR by setting up a Shopping Festival in Karachi with his youth network, Generation Next. Stallholders were charged a set fee to rent a space during the festival, and encouraged to employ internally displaced persons to help them run the stalls. The profit on the stall-rents goes directly towards the rehabilitation of Pakistan and Flood Affectees. You can view some pictures of the Generation Next Flood Relief Shopping Festival here
Ali has also been in contact with OYW Ambassadors Wen Yu-Weng (Taiwan), Daisy Da Veiga (Netherlands), Tanvir Uddin (Bangladesh) and Drei Toledo (Philippines) and others about the disaster, since they have also been active in supporting relief efforts - a truly international response, and one that needs to be kept going.
