THE ONE YOUNG WORLD SUMMIT 2021, MUNICH, 22-25 JULY

The annual One Young World Summit convenes the brightest young talent from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact. Delegates from 190+ countries are counselled by influential political, business and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle, amongst many other global figures.

Delegates participate in four transformative days of speeches, panels, networking and workshops. All delegates have the opportunity to apply to give keynote speeches, sharing a platform with world leaders with the world’s media in attendance. As well as listening to keynote speakers, delegates have the opportunity to challenge world leaders, interact and be mentored by influencers. Delegates make lasting connections throughout the Summit, celebrating their participation at social events and the unforgettable Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The Summit will take place from 22 - 25 July 2021, where over 1,800 young leaders from 190+ countries will gather in person and digitally across the city’s well-known venues, including Olympiapark and BMW Welt. Delegates will have three opportunities to attend the Munich Summit  - in person, through our digital platform and at a regional hub. One Young World is working with the City of Munich to make the Munich 2021 Summit as safe and Covid approved as possible.

One Young World’s arrival in Munich represents a significant moment for the Bavarian capital, renowned for its mixture as a traditional and cosmopolitan city. Munich is famous for its broad variety of culture and leisure opportunities, its high internationality and quality of living. 

The City has become a fast-growing centre for knowledge, research and innovation: multinational companies, SMEs and startups working in the field of digitization such as Internet of Things, Insurtech or Future Mobility have made Munich their home. Moreover, more than 120,000 students are enrolled at 17 universities and various world-class technology and science centres are located here.

Munich City At a Glance

Munich, Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century. With a population of around 1.5 million, it is the third-largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg.

2021 Venues

The 2021 Munich Summit will take place at various venues across Munich City.

Munich's Olympiapark will be home to the key Summit days.

Olympiahalle will host the Opening Ceremony, Plenary stage content, Interactive stage content, exhibition, workshops and catering. This is the second biggest venue of the Olympic Park and has been, like the Olympic Stadium next-door, a huge location for sports and culture since the Summer Olympic Games. With a capacity of up to 15,500 spectators Munich’s biggest indoor hall is a constant location for the concerts of international top-acts in pop and rock, classic and jazz, musical and entertainment.

The Closing Ceremony will take place at BMW Welt. The BMW Welt is a combined exhibition, delivery, adventure, museum and event venue, located next to the Olympic Park in the immediate vicinity of the BMW factory. It is less than a 10 minute walk from the Olympiahalle and linked via pedestrian bridge.

Evening social programmes will take place at a selection of traditional Munich venues. All these venues showcase the best of Munich’s varied social spaces.

Visas

Germany is part of The Schengen area. Nationals of certain countries will be required to apply for a short stay Schengen visa in order to travel to Germany. A guide to the visa application process for One Young World delegates can be found here.
One Young World will provide confirmed delegates who require visas with letters of invitation in order to support their visa applications. One Young World cannot guarantee any delegate that their visa application will be successful. 

Plenary Sessions

One Young World is proud to announce the 2021 Plenary Session themes!
The Plenary Sessions are some of the key highlights of the One Young World Summit and include speeches by world leaders and Delegate Speakers whose work and stories speak to the topic at hand. All content at the Summit is shaped by the five Plenary Sessions from keynotes to panels. The topics are decided through the Global Consultation Process with our 12,000 + Ambassador Community.

Workshops 2021

Workshops are a crucial part of the One Young World Summit programme, providing Delegates with practical insights into the issues and topics they are most passionate about. Sessions deliver immediately applicable skills, techniques, ideas and/or processes which Delegates are able to implement in their projects and initiatives.

The Summit this year will offer a hybrid of live, in person workshops at both Munich and regional One Young World Hubs, as well as online workshops that virtual attendees can access through One Young World media platforms.

Summit Agenda Update

The 2021 Munich Summit will offer a hybrid mix of in-person attendance in Munich, in-person attendance at selected Regional Hubs and virtual attendance from a location of your choice. Dependent on travel restrictions at the time of the Summit, Delegates will have a choice of how they would like to attend.

At this time, Regional Hubs will be held in New York and Singapore.

Please note: Hub locations are subject to change. New York, Singapore as well as other new locations will be reviewed in accordance to travel restrictions closer to the Summit Date.
